One Race a Month Update: February

A couple of weeks ago I ran the Hot Chocolate 15K as my February race. This was my 2nd time running this race, and I must say the weather conditions were much more runner-friendly than the last time. When I ran this race a couple years ago, it was almost canceled due to the weather. It was windy with a real feel of about 15 degrees. We were given the option to forgo the 15K distance and just do the 5K route, but at the 15K/5K split, I had already warmed up and was ready to finish my race.

As much as I love small town races, big city races are always exciting and full of energy. The course was nice and took us through some of the better areas of downtown Atlanta, winding through cute, historic neighborhoods and parks and then right through the heart of downtown. This race was made even sweeter by the candy and marshmallows that are given out at different mile markers. At the finish line, we receive a large mug of hot chocolate and a nice helping of melted chocolate to dip our snacks into. I think the only thing that could come close to topping the post-race chocolate milk at the Publix Half Marathon is THIS HOT CHOCOLATE.

The sweets and swag that came with this race were great, but of course, I can’t round out this post without going into the numbers. The hubby and I finished this 9.3 miler in just under 2 hours! This 9 minute PR is a big improvement from all the other 15K races we have done. I am happy with our results and with the overall feel of this race. We will probably find ourselves running it again next year!

Happy Monday! xoxo
